Every bike in the fleet goes through the same inspection before it reaches a guest, whether it was just serviced or rented out yesterday. Here's what that actually involves, step by step.
Tires and brakes
We check tread depth and tire pressure on every handover, and brake pads get inspected weekly regardless of mileage. Anything below our minimum tread threshold is pulled from the fleet immediately, not scheduled for "next service" — we'd rather lose a day of bookings than send out a bike on worn rubber.
Fluids and chain
Engine oil, coolant and brake fluid are logged on a maintenance card kept with each bike, so nothing gets missed between rentals. Chains are cleaned and lubricated every 500km, tighter than most manufacturers recommend, because the roads here are dustier and harder on drivetrains than most riders expect.
Lights and electronics
Headlight, brake light, indicators and horn all get tested before every single handover — not just at scheduled services. It's a two-minute check that catches the kind of small electrical fault that's easy to miss and genuinely dangerous to discover after dark on a mountain road.
The final road test
Before any bike goes back into the rental pool, one of our mechanics takes it around the block — accelerating, braking hard, and running through the gears. If anything feels even slightly off, it goes back on the lift instead of out the door.
This is also exactly what the pre-rental checklist attached to your booking confirmation covers, so you can run the same checks yourself at pickup if you'd like to see it firsthand.
